Synopsis
In Chechnya, the case of Zarema's illegitimate kidnapping breaks out in the democratic western world against the dictatorship of Kadyrov. Every day in Chechnya, opponents of the leader Ramzan Kadyrov are abducted, tortured and killed. People who have tried to speak out for human rights in the region have been forced to leave the country. Some of them paid with their lives. This is the story of one of these rebel families. The narrative thread is based on the letters of Zarema, the mother arrested by the dictatorships’ forces, and alternates the story of all the members of her family, in forced exile and divided in Europe. Each of them will have to face the issue and give themselves answers to the question of whether their actions against power were worth the price they are still paying today.
