Synopsis

It is without question that motorcycle road-racing is the most dangerous sport on the planet. At speeds approaching 200mph through narrow streets lined with walls and lampposts, with the opportunity for disaster around every corner, road-racing attracts a band of enthusiasts braver than most. Race the Roads follows three daring competitors as they tread the fine line between tragedy and triumph in an attempt to cast light on why these individuals play with their lives in pursuit of 6th gear. Focusing on the five biggest International races on the roads calendar, this six-part series takes you on a ride from the national roads; North West 200, Isle of Man TT, Ulster Grand Prix and Scarborough Gold Cup; through to the Macau GP. Each episode tells it as it is, revealing the harsh realities of a discipline fraught with danger. Why do they do it? It’s certainly not the money. They understand the danger; but how do their families cope with this seemingly irresponsible act? We travel with them, practice with them, race with them.
