Synopsis
The Fury is a visually stunning female drama with an all-star cast In this film, based on the successful novel by A.F.Th. van der Heijden, we meet Albert who has always looked up to his aunt Tiny (Hannah Hoekstra): this beautiful woman from Brabant can make any man’s heart skip a beat. Through Albert’s eyes Tiny’s life seems quite exciting. But why is she so furious at everyone and everything? It takes him half a lifetime to discover that his beloved aunt’s existence is a lot more complex than he had ever thought. Director André van Duren has come up with a clever solution for the jumps in time throughout the story. He makes Tiny swing from a climbing frame for Albert at an ever increasing age, from a teenager to a pensioner. Hoekstra, who was awarded at the Montreal World Film Festival for the FURY, won again at the Netherlands Film Festival. She has been awarded by the Dutch Academy for Best Actress. In THE FURY she is magnificent, putting just enough venom in the part of Tiny, who puts everyone's backs up with her cutting remarks. For which, as it turns out at the end, she had a very good reason. Anneke Blok, was also awarded by the Dutch Academy for Best Supporting Actress. THE FURY is selected at the Frankfurt Book Fair to screen during the program Literature & Film. German subtitling available.
